About “Record of Linji”

Linji Yixuan was a Chinese monk and teacher of the Hongzhou school of Chan (Zen) during the Tang dynasty (618-907). He was a leading figure in Chan Buddhism of his time. His teachings are collected in the "Recorded Sayings of Linji," a major Chan text that reflects the iconoclastic and antinomian nature of Chan philosophy. Linji is also known by the posthumous title Huizhao Chanshi. His teachings are presented as a collection of sayings and anecdotes attributed to him. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
