He is best known for his novels Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884) and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876). Huckleberry Finn is often referred to as "the Great American Novel." Twain was a widely quoted figure and maintained friendships with presidents, artists, industrialists, and European royalty. His work remains influential in American literature.
