Mohan Rakesh was a prominent Indian writer associated with the Nai Kahani literary movement in Hindi literature. He authored the first modern Hindi play, Ashadh Ka Ek Din, which won a competition by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. He made significant contributions to various literary forms, including the novel, short story, and drama. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1968.
