Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Babawayh al-Qummi (c. 918–991), commonly known as Ibn Babawayh or al-Shaykh al-Saduq, was a Shia Muslim scholar, jurist (faqīh), theologian, and hadith collector of Persian descent. Part of the first generation of jurists after the Major Occultation of 941, he traveled extensively between Baghdad, Iran, and Transoxiana, meeting established Shiʿi communities. His work Man La Yahduruhu al-Faqih forms part of The Four Books of the Shia hadith collection.
