Qurratulʻain Ḥaidar was an Indian Urdu novelist, short story writer, academic, and journalist. She is recognized as one of the most outstanding and influential figures in Urdu literature. Her most notable work, Aag Ka Darya, was first published in Urdu in 1959 in Lahore, Pakistan, and spans from the fourth century BC to the post-partition era. She was born in 1927 and died in 2007.
