1 standalone book

Raymond A. Moody Jr. is an American philosopher, psychiatrist, physician, and author known for his work on near-death experiences (NDE) and the afterlife. He coined the term "near-death experience" in 1975 in his book Life After Life, which became a bestseller. His research focuses on personal accounts of experiences reported by individuals who have been resuscitated after clinical death. He holds a BA, MA, and PhD in philosophy from the University of Virginia, as well as a PhD in psychology from the University of West Georgia, where he later taught. He also earned an M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia in 1976. Moody built a psychomanteum in Alabama, inspired by ancient Greek practices, and explored past-life regression through hypnosis. In 2023, he coauthored Proof of Life After Life: 7 Reasons to Believe There Is an Afterlife with Paul Perry, presenting case studies and theoretical insights to argue for the survival of consciousness after death.
