Renart, Jean

1 standalone book

Jean Renart, also known as Jean Renaut, was a Picard trouvère active from the end of the 12th century through the first half of the 13th. Three works are firmly ascribed to him: the metrical chivalric romances L'Escoufle and Guillaume de Dole, and a lai, the Lai de l'Ombre. Nothing else is known of his life. He is praised for his realism and his psychological insight.
