Richard Thomas Condon was an American political novelist known for his satirical works that often explored themes of monetary greed and political corruption. His books, characterized by a fast pace and frequent humor, were frequently adapted into films, with The Manchurian Candidate being his most notable work. Condon wrote 26 books, all in his distinctive style, and is also remembered for a series of novels about the Prizzi family of New York gangsters. He was born in 1915 and died in 1996.
