Robert Kurson is the author of four New York Times bestsellers, including Shadow Divers, which recounts the discovery of a World War II German U-boat off the coast of New Jersey. He began his career as an attorney after graduating from Harvard Law School, practicing real estate law before transitioning to writing. His professional writing career started at the Chicago Sun-Times, where he worked as a data entry clerk, later moving to Chicago Magazine and then to Esquire, where he won a National Magazine Award. He has also written Crashing Through, Pirate Hunters, and Rocket Men, which details the Apollo 8 mission.
