Monsignor Ronald Arbuthnott Knox was an English priest and theologian who lived from 1888 to 1957. He was a Roman Catholic priest, author, and broadcaster for BBC Radio. Educated at Eton College, he earned scholarships at Balliol College, Oxford. He was initially ordained as an Anglican priest in 1912 and served as chaplain of Trinity College, Oxford, but converted to Catholicism in 1917. He was ordained as a Catholic priest in 1918. Knox wrote essays, novels, and detective stories. He also re-translated the Latin Vulgate Bible into English, beginning in 1936. He died on 24 August 1957 and was buried in the churchyard of St Andrew's Church, Mells. His funeral was held at Westminster Cathedral, where Bishop Craven celebrated the requiem mass, and Father Martin D'Arcy delivered the panegyric.
