Ruth Plumly Thompson (27 July 1891 – 6 April 1976) was an American writer of children's stories. She is best known for writing numerous novels set in Oz, the fictional land created by L. Frank Baum in his classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its sequels. Thompson's work contributed to the continued literary tradition of the Oz series, expanding the world and characters originally introduced by Baum. She was active during the early to mid-20th century and is recognized for her contributions to children's literature.
