Steve Perry is an American writer known for his diverse career in writing and related fields. He was born and raised in the deep south and has lived in Louisiana, California, Washington, and Oregon. He is married to Dianne Waller, an executive with the Port of Portland, and they have two grown children, four grandsons, a German Shepherd dog, and a cat. Before becoming a full-time freelance writer, Perry held numerous jobs, including swimming instructor, toy assembler, hotel gift shop and car rental clerk, aluminum salesman, martial arts instructor, private detective, and Licensed Practical Nurse and Certified Physician's Assistant. He has written dozens of stories for magazines and anthologies, as well as novels, animated teleplays, non-fiction articles, reviews, and essays. He wrote for Batman: The Animated Series and had a script nominated for an Emmy. His novelizations of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire and Men in Black were bestsellers. He also wrote seven collaborative novels for Tom Clancy's Net Force series that made the New York Times list. Perry is a member of several organizations, including the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America and the Writers Guild of America, West. He is a beginning student of the Indonesian martial art Penjak Silat and was a member of the largest guitar band ever assembled, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
