Vijay Dhondopant Tendulkar was an Indian writer known for his work as a playwright, movie and television writer, literary essayist, political journalist, and social commentator primarily in Marathi. His Marathi plays, such as Shantata! Court Chalu Aahe, Ghashiram Kotwal, and Sakharam Binder, explored contemporary and unconventional themes, often drawing from real-life incidents or social upheavals. He was a dramatist and theatre personality in Maharashtra for over five decades and provided guidance to students studying play writing in US universities. Tendulkar was born in 1928 and died in 2008.
