Vuk Stefanović Karadžić was a Serbian philologist and linguist who played a crucial role in reforming the modern Serbian language. He founded several Serbian academic disciplines and made significant contributions to historiography. He is credited with collecting and preserving Serbian folktales, earning him the title "father of Serbian folk-literature scholarship." Karadžić also authored the first Serbian dictionary in the reformed language and translated the New Testament into the reformed form of Serbian.
