About “Refugee”
Refugee (1983) is the first book in the Bio of a Space Tyrant series by Piers Anthony, following the journey of Hope Hubris and his family as they flee their home on Callisto to Jupiter in a "space bubble" amid a group of refugees. The narrative details their perilous voyage, during which they are repeatedly attacked by space pirates, resulting in the rape, death, or kidnapping of most of the adults. The story draws parallels to real-world immigration issues, particularly the challenges faced by Hispanic refugees seeking refuge and employment in a new society.
