About “For We Are Many”

Bob Johansson, who did not believe in an afterlife, awoke after his death in a car accident to find himself as a sentient computer and the controlling intelligence of a Von Neumann probe. Over 40 years, Bob and his copies have expanded from Earth, searching for habitable planets. However, the mission has fallen apart. A system-wide war has killed 99.9% of humanity, and nuclear winter is making Earth uninhabitable. A radical group aims to destroy the remaining humans. Meanwhile, Brazilian space probes continue to attack competitors, and the Bobs have encountered a spacefaring species that views all life as food.
