About “2666”

Four literature professors—Jean-Claude Pelletier, Piero Morini, Manuel Espinoza, and Liz Norton—are united by their fascination with the work of Beno von Archimboldi, an enigmatic German writer whose reputation grows worldwide. Their intellectual camaraderie turns into a cosmopolitan and absurd pilgrimage to Santa Teresa, a stand-in for Ciudad Juárez, where some claim to have seen Archimboldi. 2666, a posthumous novel by Chilean author Roberto Bolaño, published in 2004, is composed of five parts. Bolaño originally planned to publish them as separate books to secure his children’s future. After his death, his heirs decided to release the work as a single novel. 2666 is considered a bold and powerful narrative achievement, presenting a new form of total novel.
