About “All the Bright Places”

Theodore Finch is drawn to death and often thinks about ending his life, but he is always stopped by something positive, no matter how small. Violet Markey is focused on the future, eager to leave her small Indiana town and cope with the grief of her sister's recent death. When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of their school's bell tower, it is unclear who saves whom. They are paired for a project to explore the natural wonders of their state, and through this, they both discover important things about themselves. Violet helps Finch feel accepted and comfortable in his true self, while Finch helps Violet stop counting the days and start living. As Violet begins to grow, Finch's world starts to shrink.
