About “Ariel”
A restored edition of Sylvia Plath's poetry collection restores the selection and arrangement of poems as she left them at the time of her death in 1963. This edition differs from the 1960s published volume of Ariel, which was edited by her husband, Ted Hughes. The new publication includes facsimile pages of Plath's manuscript and the complete working drafts of the title poem, "Ariel," to show her creative process. It also features notes she made for the BBC about some of the poems. Frieda Hughes, Plath's daughter, wrote a foreword explaining the differences between this version and the earlier published one. This edition offers a new perspective on Plath's work and her original vision.
