Tory Bodeen grew up in South Carolina under her father's iron-fisted rule, but her friendship with Hope, from the big house nearby, let her briefly be a child. After Hope's unsolved murder, Tory's life fell apart; now she returns home to open a design shop and confront the haunting past, growing close to Hope's brother Cade Lavelle even as the murderer remains nearby.
