About “Congo”

Congo is a 1980 science fiction novel by Michael Crichton. It is his fifth novel under his own name and the fifteenth in his overall bibliography. The story follows an expedition searching for diamonds and investigating the mysterious deaths of a previous group in the dense tropical rainforest of the Congo. Crichton describes the book as a lost world novel, drawing inspiration from the tradition established by Henry Rider Haggard's King Solomon's Mines. The novel's title references the mines featured in Haggard's work.
