About “De Officiis”
De Officiis is a 44 BC treatise by Marcus Tullius Cicero, divided into three books. It presents Cicero’s ideas on how to live, behave, and fulfill moral duties. The work explores what is honorable, what is beneficial, and how to act when honor and personal gain conflict. The first two books draw heavily from the Stoic philosopher Panaetius, while the third book reflects Cicero’s own independent thoughts. The text was published after his death and remains a significant philosophical work. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
