About “Dear Enemy”
Dear Enemy is a 1915 novel by Jean Webster, serving as a sequel to her 1912 book Daddy-Long-Legs. It was one of the top 10 best sellers in the U.S. in 1916. The story is told through letters written by Sallie McBride, a character who was Judy Abbott’s classmate and best friend in the previous book. Sallie writes to several people, including Judy, Jervis Pendleton, her husband and the president of the orphanage, Congressman Gordon Hallock, and the orphanage’s doctor, Robin 'Sandy' MacRae.
