About “Demetrius”
Demetrius is an incomplete drama by Friedrich Schiller, based on the life of Demetrius, who briefly served as Russian czar between 1604 and 1605. The play explores themes of individual responsibility in history and the rule of Napoleon. Schiller worked on the play from 1804 to 1805 but left it unfinished upon his death.
