About “Die Panne”
A Dangerous Game is a 1956 novel by Swiss writer Friedrich Dürrenmatt. Originally titled Die Panne, meaning "The breakdown," it was also known as Traps in the United States. The story follows a traveler whose car breaks down, leading him to accept an invitation to dinner from a former judge. Afterward, the situation takes a dark and unsettling turn. The novel was first written as a radio play and later adapted into prose.
