The Interpretation of Dreams is an 1899 book by Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. In it, Freud presents his theory of the unconscious and explores how dreams can reveal hidden thoughts and desires. The book also introduces ideas that later developed into the theory of the Oedipus complex. Freud revised the book at least eight times, and in the third edition, he added a section that interpreted dream symbols very literally, influenced by Wilhelm Stekel.
