Doorways in the Sand is a science fiction novel by American writer Roger Zelazny. It combines elements of detective fiction and comedy. The story was first published in serial form in Analog Science Fiction and Science Fact magazine. The hardcover edition was released in 1976, followed by a paperback edition in 1977. Zelazny wrote the entire novel in one draft without revisions. He considered it one of his five favorite works. The novel was nominated for the Nebula and Hugo awards.
