About “Double Falsehood”

Double Falsehood or The Distrest Lovers is a 1727 play written by Lewis Theobald, an English writer and playwright. The authorship of the play has been disputed since its publication, with some scholars suggesting it may have been written by John Fletcher and William Shakespeare. Others believe it could be an adaptation of a lost play called Cardenio, which is thought to have been written by Shakespeare and Fletcher. Theobald claimed his version was based on three manuscripts of an unnamed lost play by Shakespeare. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
