About “Dragon's Gate (Golden Mountain Chronicles)”
In 1867, Otter travels from Three Willows Village in China to California, the Land of the Golden Mountain, to join his father and uncle. A stranger even among the other Chinese there, he had expected goldfields but finds only vast, cold whiteness. His dream is to learn all he can and take the technology back to free China from the Manchu invaders, and he boards a train that will change his life, one for which he would help open the Dragon's Gate.
