Andrew, an advertising executive in his mid-30s, returns to his hometown in upstate New York for his mother's funeral and is drawn into memories of his childhood friendship with Eden Close, a girl who was blinded in a violent incident involving the same gun that killed her father. Despite his initial intention to leave the rural town, Andrew becomes determined to uncover the truth behind that night and to help Eden, who has lived in isolation and neglect since the event.
