About “Edward III”

The Raigne of King Edward the Third is an Elizabethan play first printed in 1596 and possibly partly written by William Shakespeare. It was not included in publications of Shakespeare’s complete works until the late 1990s. Several scholars, including Jonathan Bate and Brian Vickers, have supported its attribution to Shakespeare. However, the identity of its co-author remains uncertain, with suggestions including Thomas Kyd, Christopher Marlowe, and others. The play’s authorship continues to be a topic of scholarly debate.
