About “End Poem”
The video game Minecraft includes a narrative text called the End Poem, written by Irish writer Julian Gough. This is the only story element in the game, which is otherwise a sandbox-style experience without a structured plot. The game's creator, Markus "Notch" Persson, did not have an ending for the game until a month before its release. He invited Gough to write the ending after suggestions from Twitter users. The poem, which appears in the game's end credits, is a 1,500-word dialogue between two unspecified entities discussing the player's actions. It was introduced in Beta version 1.9 and remained part of the full release. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
