About “Fayuan Zhulin”
Fayuan Zhulin is a Buddhist encyclopedia compiled in 100 juan by Daoshi in AD 668. It includes Buddhist and other ancient texts that are otherwise lost, making it a key resource for understanding medieval Chinese Buddhism. The work was later used during the Ming Dynasty to help reconstruct older zhiguai collections. It is considered an important example of Chinese Buddhist encyclopedic literature.
