About “Fear and Trembling”

Amelie, a young Western woman, travels to Japan to work at the Yumimoto Corporation, fulfilling a dream of returning to the country where she was born. She quickly finds herself overwhelmed by the strict customs and hierarchical structure of the company. Her attempts to adapt only lead to further embarrassment and failure. She takes on menial tasks such as delivering mail, serving tea, and updating calendars, but her efforts only push her further down the corporate ladder. Her biggest mistake is falling in love with her superior, Miss Mori, a woman who is both beautiful and unapproachable. Amelie's struggles highlight the cultural gap between her and the Japanese workplace.
