About “Fukan zazengi”

Fukan zazengi, also known as Universal Recommendation for Zazen, is an essay written by the 13th century Japanese Zen monk Eihei Dōgen. It describes and promotes the practice of zazen, a form of seated meditation central to Zen Buddhism. The exact date of its composition is unknown, and the text changed considerably over the course of Dōgen's life. Unlike his other major work, Shōbōgenzō, which was written in Classical Japanese, Fukan zazengi was composed in Classical Chinese. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
