About “Shōbōgenzō”
Shōbōgenzō is a collection of works written in Japanese by Eihei Dōgen, a 13th-century Buddhist monk and founder of the Sōtō Zen school in Japan. The term is also used more generally as a synonym for Buddhism from the Mahayana perspective. Several works share the same title, and it is sometimes called the Kana Shōbōgenzō to distinguish it from others.
