American art expert Dr. Miranda Jones travels to Florence to examine a recently discovered bronze sculpture known as the Dark Lady, judging it to genuinely date from the Medici era. Her expertise is challenged and she is publicly humiliated, though she finds initial support from the attractive gallery owner Ryan Boldari, whose true intentions remain uncertain.
