About “House of Suns”

A 2008 novel by Alastair Reynolds follows the story of Abigail Gentian, who, six million years ago, created a thousand male and female clones known as shatterlings. These clones were sent across the galaxy to observe and record the rise and fall of human empires. Every two hundred thousand years, the shatterlings meet to share their experiences. However, during this millennium, there is no gathering. The Gentian line is being wiped out, and two shatterlings, Campion and Purslane, who have fallen in love and shared forbidden experiences, must uncover the identity of their enemy before they are destroyed.
