About “In Verrem”
"In Verrem" is a series of speeches made by Cicero in 70 BC during the trial of Gaius Verres, who had served as governor of Sicily. The speeches were delivered as part of the legal proceedings against Verres for corruption and extortion. They were given at the same time as Cicero was running for the position of aedile. The speeches helped establish Cicero's reputation and marked the beginning of his public career. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
