Inuyasha is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from November 1996 to June 2008, with chapters collected in 56 tankōbon volumes. The story follows Kagome Higurashi, a fifteen-year-old girl from modern-day Tokyo who falls into a well at her family shrine and is transported to the Sengoku period. There, she meets Inuyasha, a half-dog demon and half-human. After the sacred Shikon Jewel emerges from Kagome's body and is shattered into fragments, she and Inuyasha begin a journey to recover the pieces. They are joined by the monk Miroku, the demon slayer Sango, and the fox demon Shippō. Together, they seek to restore the Shikon Jewel before it is seized by the evil half-demon Naraku.
