Ranma ½ is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday from August 1987 to March 1996, with the chapters collected in 38 tankōbon volumes by Shogakukan. The story follows Ranma Saotome, a teenager who trained in martial arts from a young age. During a training journey, he was involved in an accident that left him cursed. When exposed to cold water, he transforms into a girl, and hot water reverts him to a boy.
