About “Jock of the Bushveld”
Jock of the Bushveld is a non-fiction work by South African author Sir James Percy FitzPatrick. The 1907 book recounts his travels with his dog, Jock, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross. It is based on his experiences during the 1880s, when he worked as a storeman, prospector's assistant, journalist, and ox-wagon transport-rider in the Bushveld region of the Transvaal. The story is presented as a true account of his time in the area and his bond with Jock. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
