La Petite Fadette is an 1849 novel written by French novelist George Sand, born Amantine Dupin. It was also published in English under several titles, including Little Fadette and Fadette. A Domestic Story. The novel was written during the 1840s when Sand returned from Paris to the countryside of Châteauroux. Alongside La Mare au Diable and François le Champi, La Petite Fadette is part of a group of rural stories she wrote during this period. Today, it remains one of Sand's most recognized works.
