"Lot No. 249" is a Gothic horror short story by Arthur Conan Doyle, first published in 1892. The story follows Abercrombie Smith, an Oxford athlete who observes strange occurrences involving Edward Bellingham, an Egyptology student. Bellingham owns several ancient Egyptian artifacts, including a mummy. Smith witnesses the mummy disappear and reappear, and two of Bellingham's enemies are attacked.
