Every debutante in London wants to marry the Duke of Atherstone, so he flees by yacht, first to Monte Carlo and then to Algiers to escape marital schemes. In Algiers, his friend Nicholas Vlastov takes him to a Slave Market, where the Duke is approached by a terrified English girl named Selina, kidnapped along with other European girls, who begs him to save her, and he buys her.
