Marina Martyn, a wealthy and beautiful woman engaged to a rich and handsome man she does not love, decides to leave London and her social life in search of solitude. She travels to Estoril in Portugal, where she meets a mysterious South American, falls in love with him, and flees with him to Spain, only to find herself in mortal danger as they are pursued by unknown enemies.
