About “Marion de Lorme”

This is a play written by Victor Hugo during a time of great controversy. It was forced to remain unused because it could have brought shame to the monarchy of Louis XIII and the future heirs. Although Hugo denied this, King Charles X decided to ban it. The ban only encouraged Hugo to write another powerful drama, Hernani. The play reflects Hugo's contributions to literature.
