About “Mufaddaliyat”
The Mufaddaliyyat is an anthology of pre-Islamic Arabic poems compiled by Mufaḍḍal al-Ḍabbī between 762 and 784 CE. It includes 126 poems, some complete odes and others fragmentary, all from the Golden Age of Arabic poetry, which spans from 500 to 650 CE. The collection features works by 68 authors, two of whom were Christian. The oldest poems in the anthology date from around 500 CE.
