About “Natural questions”
Naturales Quaestiones is a Latin work of natural philosophy written by Seneca around AD 65. Unlike the systematic Naturalis Historia of Pliny the Elder, it is not an encyclopedia but one of the few Roman texts focused on the natural world. Seneca draws on the views of Greek and Roman thinkers, though he also offers original ideas. The work includes moralizing passages that appear unrelated to natural philosophy, a feature that has drawn significant scholarly attention. Some suggest this combination of ethics and natural inquiry reflects Stoic ideas, emphasizing the connection between these areas of philosophy. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
