About “Nausea”

A novel by Jean-Paul Sartre is written in the form of a journal. It follows a historian who moves to a small port in northern France to research a biography. As he spends more time there, his senses dull, and he becomes increasingly disgusted by his own existence. He finds no comfort in his friends or an affair he begins with a woman. The story explores his growing sense of alienation and dissatisfaction.
